Chapter1　Purpose

The purpose of this Policy is to promote environmentally friendly activities in all business activities in order to recognize a company's social responsibility toward the environment and pass on a rich global environment to future generations.

Chapter2　Definitions of Terminologies

Article1The terms used in this Global Policy are defined below.

1. “Employee(s)” means directors, officers, regular employees, contract employees, and other employees of the ONO Group, including temporary staff and fixed-term employees.
2. “ONO Group” means Ono Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and each of Subsidiaries.
3. “Subsidiary(ies)” means an entity or entities in which Ono Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. directly or indirectly holds a majority of voting rights (more than 50%) or otherwise exercises equivalent substantial control. Indirect ownership includes all entities in a continuous chain of control, such as subsidiaries and sub-subsidiaries.

This Global Policy applies to each entity of ONO Group and Employees.

Chapter4　Basic principle

Article1The ONO Group contributes to the realization of a sustainable and prosperous society by creating innovative medicines and working on solving global environmental issues such as climate change through the following activities.

1. Recognizing corporate social responsibility for the environment, we conduct environmentally friendly activities at entire stages of product research, development, procurement, production, distribution, sales, use, and disposal.
2. We comply with environmental laws and agreements in each country and region, and our voluntary standards.
3. Under the environmental management system, we set goals and action plans, monitor regularly, and disclose information.
4. We actively introduce the latest science and technology to reduce environmental impacts.
5. To conserve the natural environment and biodiversity, we pursue efficient use of resources and energy, efficient use of water and appropriate wastewater management, reduction of waste, promotion of recycling, and prevention of pollution.
6. We communicate with internal and external stakeholders and produce eco-friendly products in cooperation.
7. We build all employees’ environmentally sensitive minds through education to promote environmentally friendly initiatives.

Supplementary Provisions

1. This policy was established with the approval of the Management Meeting on February 26, 2020, and became effective on the same day.
2. Any amendments or abolishment of this policy shall be reviewed by the Environmental Committee and the Sustainability Strategy Meeting, deliberated by the Management Meeting, and approved by the President. The results will be reported to the Board of Directors.
3. In implementing this policy, an environmental governance structure will be established to clarify the responsibilities and authorities within the organization.
