- Ono obtained exclusive development and commercialization rights to Biohaven's IgG degrader portfolio in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and ASEAN countries
- IgG degraders are a new class of therapeutics designed to eliminate disease-causing autoantibodies associated with autoimmune diseases
- BHV-1300, the most advanced program in the IgG degrader portfolio, is currently in global Phase 3 development for Graves' disease
Osaka, Japan & New Haven, CT, October 8, 2026 -- Ono Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka, Japan; President and COO: Toichi Takino; “Ono”) today announced that it has entered into an exclusive license agreement with Biohaven Ltd. together with its wholly owned subsidiaries (“Biohaven”) for the development and commercialization of Biohaven’s IgG degrader portfolio, including BHV-1300, BHV-1310, and BHV-1320, in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and ASEAN countries.
The IgG degrader portfolio consists of novel small-molecule therapeutics generated from Biohaven's proprietary MoDE™ extracellular protein degrader platform. The portfolio leverages endogenous protein degradation mechanisms to selectively eliminate the major IgG subclasses, IgG1, IgG2, and IgG4, of disease-causing autoantibodies associated with autoimmune diseases and is being developed as a potential innovative therapeutic approach targeting the underlying cause of autoimmune diseases. BHV-1300, the most advanced program in the portfolio, is currently in global Phase 3 development for Graves' disease.
Under the terms of the agreement, Ono will pay Biohaven 80 million US dollars as an upfront payment and 20 million US dollars as a milestone achievement payment, and royalties of approximately 20 percent on net sales. Ono will be responsible for clinical development and obtaining regulatory approvals for IgG degrader portfolio in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and ASEAN countries. Following regulatory approvals, Ono will be responsible for commercialization in these territories.
“Biohaven has a strong track record of developing innovative therapeutics leveraging its proprietary drug discovery platforms. Through this collaboration, we aim to strengthen our late-stage pipeline in the immunology and inflammation field, one of Ono’s key focus areas,” said Toichi Takino, President and COO of Ono. “We look forward to working with Biohaven to provide this new therapeutic option to patients with Graves' disease in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and ASEAN countries and to maximize the value of this treatment.”
"Ono is the ideal partner to bring these medicines to patients across Japan and key Asian markets. Few companies in the world can match Ono's innovation in drug development or its demonstrated ability to translate breakthrough science into transformative therapies, as it did in helping to define modern cancer immunotherapy,” said Vlad Coric, Chairman and CEO of Biohaven. “Pairing BHV-1300 with Ono's regional development and commercial excellence gives this portfolio its strongest and fastest path to patients in two of the world's most important pharmaceutical markets."
The impact of this matter on the Company’s consolidated financial results for the current fiscal year ending March 31, 2027, is expected to be minor. Should there be any events to be disclosed in the future, we will announce them in a timely manner.
About the IgG Degrader Portfolio
The IgG degrader portfolio comprises novel small-molecule therapeutics generated from Biohaven's proprietary MoDE extracellular protein degrader platform. The portfolio leverages endogenous protein degradation mechanisms to selectively eliminate disease-driving IgG1, IgG2, and IgG4 subclasses of antibodies that cause the target autoimmune diseases. BHV-1300, the lead IgG degrader, is a self-administered autoinjector designed to degrade the thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor autoantibodies (TRAb), which are a key driver of Graves' disease.
About Graves' disease
Graves' disease is the most common form of hyperthyroidism and is caused by TRAb. The disease is characterized by cycles of relapse and remission and is particularly common among women in their 20s and 30s. It has been reported to affect approximately 0.2 to 3.2 individuals per 1,000 population. Current approved treatments for Graves' disease include antithyroid drug therapy, radioactive iodine therapy, and surgery. However, none of these treatments targets TRAb, the underlying cause of Graves' disease.
